Movie Posters and Lobby Cards
American Movies posters come in several sizes. The One Sheet is very popular and is 27X41 inches, and usually were folded after being displayed in the theaters. The Half Sheet measures 22X28 inches & is printed on a thinker paper than the One Sheets. These were sometimes rolled & can be found with no folding creases. Then you have the Insert that is 14X36 inches and make a great size to frame on a thinner wall in the home. There are also Window Cards that usually have a blank space on the top or bottom that was used to advertise a theater, time & location for the showing. These are 14X22 inches and are a bit harder to find. There are other sizes but these are the most popular. It is interesting to note that there are huge posters that were used & these were called 3 Sheets and 6 sheets (81X81 inches). These are a bit harder to place in many homes, but are beautiful to display if you have a wall large enough. Finally you have the Lobby Cards that measure 11X14 inches and are printed on thinker stock. These came in sets of 8 with the main card being called the title card. These have some great color and artwork & can be presented in singles or groups up to all eight if you like.
Other countries offered movie advertisements in many different sizes and in many cases have artwork different than the American version. The Australian Day bills are similar to the American Insert and make a great framed piece of movie history for your wall.
Another question that many people have is, "reprint of original?" This is something that is very important to some people & othes are looking for the artwork that will look best in their homes. We will help you understand the differece between an original, a re-release of a title & a reprint.
