Collecting Arizona History Books:
There is a multitude of areas that you might be interested in when you look at Arizona History. The geography in Arizona is quite unique with our mountains, deserts & canyons. The Native American peoples who call AZ home have a story to tell that is fascinating. The Military established early outposts in AZ that you can still visit today. Many famous people traveled through AZ in one part of their lives. Some staying & other moving on to new territories of adventure. Cochise, Wyatt Earp, Geronimo, Doc Holliday, John Muir, Teddy Roosevelt, Bucky O’Neil, Sharlot Hall, Tom Mix, John Wayne and Zane Grey to name a few. There are so many other not so famous names that have very interesting stories to tell. Early in the 20th century the movie makers “discovered” AZ as a location for Westerns that are still shot here today. Zane Grey & John Ford both felt that the environment was more than just background. We are left with a wealth of books that document the History of Arizona that can take you to the time & location of your choosing. Some people purchase these books as collector, some to gather information & entertainment, other are looking for both. Collecting Zane Grey

As you collect in any category it is always good to get a good understanding of what is available & what is an acceptable price. With Zane Grey (ZG) there are many reference books available that can help you understand what is a first edition and listings of the many versions of the titles there are. Zane Grey is most famous for his Western Novels. He wrote over 70 titles. Most of these first appeared in magazines before they were put out in book form. These magazines have beautiful art work that many people like to collect. He also wrote non fiction Fishing titles that are now very collectable. Zane Grey played semi-pro baseball before becoming a Dentist and wrote a few baseball titles early in his career. He was born Pearl Zane Gray, in Zanesville Ohio. As the most successful writer of his time he was able to travel the country Hunting and Fishing. He became a famous fisherman in the South Seas in places like Tahiti, New Zealand & Australia. Collecting Amwell Press Hunting & Fishing Books:

Amwell Press came out of the National Sporting Fraternity Limited founded in 1976. The group of Sportsman was organized and limited to 1000 members. Amwell Press was created to publish sporting books that would go to this group in a limited number. (1 of 1000) Additional collectable titles were put out & first offered to the fraternity, but were also limited to 1000 copies. These were all signed by the author or editor & by Jim Rikhoff, President of the NSFL. In cases were a title sold out quickly & was still in demand a trade edition was put out that was not limited to 1000 copies & was usually not signed. These books have become very collectable because of a few reasons. They are limited to only 1000 copies, they are put together with beautiful bindings & slipcases & the content is very desired by hunting, fishing & history enthusiasts. In many editions you will also find great photos from the author’s personal collections. You will find other books with illustrations from artists that capture the feel of the stories. If you are looking for a certain title that we do not stock, please let us try to find it for you. The books are a great investment & fantastic reading!
